ASG AMF Strengthens Machining Capabilities with £900,000 Investment
ASG AMF Engineering, part of Manchester-headquartered ASG Group, has unveiled its latest investment with the installation of a new DMG Mori DMF 400 11 (FD) – a cutting-edge machining centre that adds both scale and versatility to the company’s already formidable line-up.
The acquisition follows a series of recent upgrades at AMF’s 28,000 sq. ft. Bromborough facility, including new branded workstations designed to enhance workflow and operator efficiency. It continues a programme of investment by the CNC machining service provider, which has been serving demanding sectors for more than 35 years.
The new DMG Mori machine, an £900,000 investment, combines 4-axis and optional 5-axis machining with advanced mill-turn capabilities, enabling the production of highly complex geometries on a single platform. With a robust cast iron bed, three linear guideways in the X-axis and a 4-metre working envelope, the system delivers maximum rigidity and accuracy across large-scale projects.
“This investment is about future-proofing our capacity and capability,” said Zack Kirkman, Technical Manager at ASG AMF Engineering. “The DMF 400 11 gives us the flexibility to handle large, complex parts for the most prestigious global customers across aerospace, defence & semiconductor markets, providing progressive, reliable and resilient vertically integrated capability, underpinned by a focused and responsive ‘one ASG team’ ethos.” By integrating advanced probing and thermal stability systems, we can reduce set-up times and achieve consistent accuracy, even on challenging components.”
Kirkman added: “Our customers operate in some of the most demanding industries in the world – from ultra-high vacuum systems in the semiconductor sector to cryogenic research equipment and critical aerospace assemblies. Investments like this ensure we can continue to deliver complex parts on time, to specification, and with complete confidence.”
Founded more than three decades ago, ASG AMF Precision Engineering has built a reputation for delivering high-quality, precision-engineered solutions across aerospace, defence, oil and gas, nuclear, subsea, and research sectors. Its Bromborough site combines technical expertise with sustainability credentials, holding an EPC A rating, BREEAM “Excellent” status, following recent solar panel and battery storage investments.
ASG Group is trusted by prestigious global customers across the aerospace, defence and semiconductor markets. The group engineers safety critical components and assemblies using the most advanced manufacturing technologies. Headquartered in Manchester and employing almost 500 people, ASG Group has sites across the North West, Yorkshire, the Midlands and Germany, with an annual turnover exceeding $80m.
By strengthening AMF Engineering's large-bed machining and mill-turn capabilities, the company is well placed to capture new opportunities in global high-tech industries. This continued programme investment underpins the group’s ambition and growth expectations for continued future growth.
