Renewable energy, built into production
During a recent spell of hot weather, ASG Produmax's Bradford facility ran entirely on electricity generated on-site. For several working days, sunlight powered production across the facility. Precision manufacturing, running on renewable energy.
That is the result of a planned infrastructure investment. A 0.3 MW rooftop solar installation, now fully commissioned at the Bradford site, provides a significant proportion of the facility's daytime electricity from renewable generation. The system is fully integrated into production operations.
Jeremy Ridyard, Managing Director of ASG Produmax:
"This investment allows us to generate a substantial amount of our own electricity on-site, giving us greater control over a key operational cost while strengthening the resilience of the business. It helps create more certainty in how we plan, invest and deliver for our customers."
For a precision manufacturer serving aerospace customers, that certainty has commercial value. Customers award long-cycle programmes to suppliers they trust to remain stable and operationally capable across the full life of their contracts. Controlling energy costs is part of building that resilience into the business.
Building across the group
The Bradford installation is part of a wider programme of responsible energy investment across the ASG Aerospace group.
At ASG AMF Engineering in Bromborough, nearly 700 solar panels form a 220 kW system generating approximately 160,000 kWh annually. The site has since added a Solax lithium-ferro phosphate battery storage system, enabling surplus energy to be captured and stored for full utilisation across the facility. The combined system now powers a substantial proportion of operations at Bromborough, supporting production across aerospace, semiconductor and scientific applications.
Bradford and Bromborough are the first steps. The ambition is to extend the programme further across ASG Aerospace's seven manufacturing sites.
Energy and operational resilience
The energy transition is a present commercial reality for advanced manufacturers. ASG Aerospace's approach is to treat energy investment as a long-term operational decision — one that improves cost certainty, strengthens resilience and supports the commitments customers expect from their supply chain partners.
