ASG AMF Rounds off major investment drive with new laser scanning capability
ASG AMF, part of Manchester-based ASG Group, has completed a near-£2m investment programme at its Bromborough facility to strengthen machining, inspection and material-handling capability for highly regulated markets.
The latest addition is a Keyence WM Series wide-area CMM, bringing high-accuracy, shop-floor metrology and 3D measurement. This follows the installation of two major machining assets earlier this year: a DMG MORI DMU 95 monoBLOCK five-axis machining centre and a DMG MORI DMF 400-11 (FD) large-format mill-turn machine, alongside a new factory crane to improve material handling and workflow.
Together, the investments significantly enhance ASG AMF’s ability to machine, inspect and validate large, complex components within a single, integrated environment.
Simon Kirkman, Managing Director of ASG AMF, said: “This investment ensures we have the depth of capability needed to support customers in demanding sectors. We’re building a facility that is efficient, resilient and ready for long-term growth.”
Zack Kirkman, Technical Manager at ASG AMF, added:
“The DMU 95 and DMF 400-11 give us the scale, flexibility and precision to machine large, complex parts efficiently, while the Keyence WM Series improves how we inspect them. Measuring directly on the shop floor and feeding that data back into the process improves both quality and delivery.
“This is critical for the sectors we serve, from semiconductor equipment to subsea, aerospace and defence, where accuracy, inspection integrity and repeatability are essential.”
The investment programme at ASG AMF forms part of a wider, ongoing strategy across ASG Aerospace, which engineers safety-critical components and assemblies for prestigious global customers worldwide.
Headquartered in Manchester, ASG Aerospace employs almost 500 people across sites in the North West, Yorkshire, the Midlands and Germany, with annual turnover exceeding $80 million.
