Jake Moody, a rising talent at ASG Arrowsmith Engineering in Coventry, has been named a Highly Commended finalist at the Lloyds Banking Group Apprenticeship & Skills Game Changers Awards, an event that celebrates outstanding contributions from apprentices and their employers across the UK.
Currently in the second year of his apprenticeship, Jake has emerged as a standout example of resilience, commitment, and early-career excellence. Trained at the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) in Coventry, Jake was shortlisted for Apprentice of the Year, a category that recognises young professionals who demonstrate exceptional promise and impact within their industries.
Though he didn’t take home the overall title, Jake’s commendation positions him among the very best apprentices nationwide—and marks a significant moment for both him and ASG Arrowsmith Engineering, a member of the ASG Group.
“Jake represents everything we believe in at Arrowsmith,” said Jason Arrowsmith, Managing Director of ASG Arrowsmith Engineering. “He’s committed, curious, and already making a measurable impact on the shop floor. For someone at such an early stage in their career to be recognised at this level is a huge achievement—not just for Jake, but for the whole team that supports him. We’re immensely proud.”
Moody’s recognition comes amid a broader conversation around the importance of technical skills and apprenticeships in shaping the future of British manufacturing. The Game Changers Awards—sponsored by Lloyds Banking Group—shine a spotlight on individuals and organisations helping to close the skills gap and build a resilient, modern workforce.
The awards include a wide range of categories, from Rising Star of the Year to accolades for employers and training providers. This year’s celebration drew talent from across the UK’s SME community, with Lloyds underlining its long-term commitment to skills development in sectors like engineering, technology, and advanced manufacturing.
For Jake, the experience is a platform to inspire others following similar paths. His journey—marked by determination in the face of personal challenges—has already made him a mentor to fellow apprentices at ASG Arrowsmith.
“Being shortlisted and highly commended is something I’ll never forget,” Jake said. “It’s pushed me to keep improving and shown me just how much support I have from the team here. I’m excited for what comes next.”
With ASG Group continuing to invest in apprenticeships and skills-based training across its network of specialist engineering firms, Jake’s recognition stands as a powerful endorsement of the Group’s approach to workforce development.
